JOIN US FOR THE FIRST ANNUAL PLANTING SEASON DESIGN INTENSIVE AT PROJECT BONA FIDE

This course takes place at Project Bonafide, a 43-acre permaculture site on the island of Ometepe in Nicaragua that has been in development for nearly a decade. It offers the standard PDC curriculum with a special emphasis on forest gardening in the tropics. Particular attention will be given to forest garden design, layout and planting, in addition to agro-forests, wildlife corridors, agro-silvo-pastoral systems and agroecology. Although we will be in a tropical setting, many of the techniques will transfer directly to any climate. Students should expect to receive resources and plant lists for many climates as part of the course content.

Planting season will be in full swing during the course! Students can expect significant hands-on experience putting knowledge into practice on the farm through planting, erosion and flood water management, adaptive tropical designs for living spaces in the tropics, and water catchment and storage strategies. Since this course also occurs at the height of mango season, students will also be involved in harvesting, post harvest handling, and processing of value-added products. This is big fruit time in the tropics, so expect to eat lots of delicious local fruit.
